CONCEPT DESIGN

The first stage of the design process is the concept or preliminary design phase, typically completed within a short timeframe. During this dynamic stage, we work closely with our clients to transform their ideas and operational requirements into a realistic, purpose-built concept design. A ship’s concept design comprises a comprehensive set of calculations, including accurate estimates of weight, construction cost, and performance, forming a solid technical and commercial foundation for the subsequent construction phase.

Scope of Concept Design

  • Review and evaluation of the Product Functional and Technical Specifications, together with the initial product concept proposal.
  • Comprehensive analysis of operational and technical requirements to identify the optimal solution aligned with the vessel’s intended purpose.
  • Determination of principal dimensions in accordance with applicable classification rules, local regulatory constraints, and client-specific requirements.
  • Selection of materials and key equipment appropriate for performance, durability, and compliance.
  • Definition of the core vessel features and development of the overall ship concept design.
  • Preparation of preliminary technical calculations and reports, including weight, stability, and performance assessments.
  • Preliminary propulsion system selection, supported by CFD-based performance evaluations.
